Mohanlal highlighted that although he could afford things for his son, it was Pranav who chose to keep his life simple. He mentioned that the Hridayam actor never demanded more. Mohanlal was quoted as saying:

“(As a student) He lived in a hostel room with minimal facilities. His life was pretty simple. He never demanded more, even though I could afford some luxuries. Even when he worked as an assistant director in one of my movies, he chose minimal facilities.”
