Dolores Huerta is a well-known American labour leader. She is best-known as the co-founder of United Farm Workers. According to a report by Woman & The American History, Dolores was born in 1930, in Mexico, and spent a major part of her life fighting for the rights of farmers, women and more. Over the years, she has been working closely with the co-founder of her organisation, Cesar Chavez.

Currently, the civil right activist is making headlines as she accused Cesar of sexually assaulting her. However, she soon realised that she needed to do a lot more than teaching English. Later, in 1955, she helped found a local Stockton chapter of the Community Service Organization.

During her time and effort at CSO, Dolores met Ventura Huerta and eventually fell in love. The duo soon tied the knot and later had five children together. However, similar to her first wedding, this too ended in divorce. It is also worth noting that the reason of her divorce is not available online.

How did Dolores Huerta meet Cesar and Richard Chavez?

During her efforts at CSO, Dolores met Cesar, who was reportedly the national director. After years of hard work, Dolores and Cesar stepped down and went on to co-found their own organisation named National Farmworkers Association. During the same, she also met Richard Chavez, who is reportedly Cesar’s brother. Later, Richard and Dolores fell for each other and stayed with each other till 2011, until Richard’s demise. The two had four children.

For the unversed, the civil right activist claimed that Cesar forced her for an intercourse. According to NBC News, Dolores shared that the first time, she didn’t refuse Cesar as she admired him. However, later, he forced her. A part of her statement can be read as:

“The first time I was manipulated and pressured into having sex with him, and I didn’t feel I could say no because he was someone that I admired, my boss and the leader of the movement I had already devoted years of my life to. The second time I was forced, against my will, and in an environment where I felt trapped.”
