Hyderabad: Three Nigerian women drug peddlers who managed to escape from Delhi during a joint raid conducted by the TG‑Elite force and the Delhi Crime Branch have been arrested by the Warangal Eagle team in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
According to the Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (Eagle) force, the Warangal narcotics sleuths arrested the foreign nationals based on a tip‑off after they fled to Andhra Pradesh to evade arrest.
TG‑Eagle director Sandeep Shandilya said the three Nigerian nationals left Delhi by flight to Visakhapatnam a day before the Delhi operation. “As all our 20 teams headed to Delhi, only one DSP in Warangal was left. We formed one team to pursue these women peddlers, who had taken a service apartment on rent in Visakhapatnam,” he said.
“We began electronic and physical surveillance and found that the women visited the Andhra University campus and contacted Suresh and Harshavardhan for drug sales. They were also engaged by one Sandeep of Parvathipuram, who booked them through a foreign female escort website and stayed with the arrested women the entire night,” Shandilya said.
By the time the Eagle team reached the service apartment, the women had checked out. “We managed to intercept them at the Telangana state border. During the chase, they threw away the small quantity of drugs they were carrying,” he added.
The women were reportedly on their way to meet one Pruthvichandra at Quthbullapur in Hyderabad when they were apprehended.
Upon checking their documents, officials found that the women were using fake passports with forged visas. “They were staying illegally and living a luxurious lifestyle by selling drugs and indulging in flesh trade. We have applied for a Movement Restriction Order (MRO) with the FRRO, Hyderabad, as they pose a serious threat to the safety and security of the youth,” Shandilya said.
Eagle urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, including illegal stay of foreign nationals, drug trafficking, or related unlawful acts.
