GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes opened up about his next potential career move, just weeks after the release of his ex‑wife Ruth Langsford’s book
Eamonn Holmes has spoken of the possibility of writing a fresh autobiography, two decades on from his debut memoir. The presenter released This Is My Life back in 2006, detailing his Belfast upbringing, his path to broadcasting stardom and offering glimpses into his personal world.
Fast forward the years and the 66-year-old has accumulated considerably more life experience, including his surprising separation from Ruth Langsford in 2024.
Speaking recently about the prospect of documenting the last two decades, he told Bella Magazine: “It is a lot of trouble [to write it]. When I wrote the original, it was thick and when the lawyers finished with it, it was thin. So there is a lot of pain.”
Eamonn continued: “Nobody wants me to write a nice story. They want the truth and to be given it straight. People can’t handle the truth, they don’t want to know the truth. I have learnt people want their own version of the truth.”
Just some of the huge changes in Eamonn’s recent years include his departure from This Morning, battling various health challenges and embarking on a fresh romance after parting ways with Ruth.
The former couple, who are parents to a 23-year-old son, spent 27 years together, with 14 of those married.
Back in February, Ruth launch her latest book, Feeling Fabulous, which blends personal experience with guidance on building resilience and self-assurance.
While discussing her new book, the Loose Women presenter opened up about the unexpected breakdown of her marriage.
Ruth has hinted that it was Eamonn who brought their relationship to an end, a decision that left her blindsided.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: “In my opinion, I had a very happy marriage. Of course you question yourself, did I miss something, was I not aware, was I too busy? But there’s no point playing the blame game.”
She added: “I just didn’t think I’d find myself here, and I wasn’t strong at the start. I was broken. Broken heart. Broken dreams. We all have an image of how we think our life and future is going to be. This wasn’t mine.”
Out of consideration for their son, Ruth has chosen not to reveal the circumstances behind their separation. She has also recently made clear that she’s currently single and while not actively seeking romance, she hasn’t closed the door on future possibilities.
Meanwhile, Eamonn made his relationship with Katie Alexander public towards the end of 2024, and they have stayed together since.
Speaking to The Mirror about his separation from Ruth that same year, he said: “I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all.”
When questioned about whether they might maintain any form of relationship going forward, he responded: “It’s too early to say but I hope we can still be friends.”
