Here’s what you need to know about this deal.
Overview of the Rakuten and Lululemon 15% bonus
Rakuten is having its Holiday Big Deal Reveal, where, starting in November, you can earn up to 23% cash back at select merchants each day for the first 10 days. Lululemon, a popular activewear brand, is part of this promotion.
On Nov. 8, Rakuten users who activate the portal and shop at Lululemon can earn 15% cash back or 15 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent, thanks to their partnership with Amex. If you opt to earn Amex points, that’s a whopping 30% return based on TPG’s November 2025 valuations.
What is Rakuten?
Rakuten is one of TPG’s favorite online shopping portals, where you can activate a browser extension to earn bonus rewards when shopping at select retailers.
You can opt to redeem your cash back for a check mailed to you or a deposit into your PayPal account. You can also earn Amex Membership Rewards points if you link an eligible Amex card to your Rakuten account.
No matter what form of rewards you earn, they are deposited quarterly on these dates:
- Feb. 15
- May 15
- Aug. 15
- Nov. 15

You must have at least $5.01 or 500 points in rewards to cash out, or they will roll over to the next quarter.

Lululemon deal details
First (and most importantly) you must click through Lululemon on Rakuten’s site or click the Rakuten browser extension button on Lululemon’s website to activate your shopping trip.
Once your shopping trip is activated, shop as you normally would and proceed to checkout. After you complete your purchase, you should receive an email from Rakuten with the subject line “You’ve got cash back coming,” indicating that Rakuten has successfully registered your shopping trip and your bonus rewards are on the way.
What card should I use for this deal?
If you have your Rakuten earning preference set to Membership Rewards points, you can use any card and still earn Amex points. Since you don’t have to use an Amex card, you can maximize your earnings even further. You could use a flat-rate card, such as the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, which earns at least 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases.
Or you could opt for a card that earns bonus rewards on online shopping, like the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express, which earns 3% cash back on U.S. online retail purchases (up to $6,000 per category per year in purchases; then 1% back).
Cash back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit and at amazon.com checkout.
If you’re in the market for a new card and really want to score big, you could also consider the Rakuten American Express® Card. You’ll earn 30% cash back or 30 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on every Big Deal Reveal purchase (on up to $7,000 in total Rakuten purchases for the calendar year).

Amex Platinum Card Lululemon benefits
If you have the American Express Platinum Card®, you’ll receive an up to $75 quarterly statement credit for purchases at U.S. Lululemon stores (excluding outlets) and online (enrollment required).
If you haven’t used your statement credit for this quarter, Nov. 8 is the day to use it, as you’ll be able to double-dip on rewards when you have Rakuten activated.
For example, let’s say you want to buy my personal favorite item, the Pace Breaker shorts.
Since these shorts generally cost $68, your credit would fully cover the purchase — but you’d also earn 1,020 Amex points or $10.20 cash back via Rakuten.

To enroll for this statement credit, simply log in to your Amex account and go to benefits under the membership section. There, you should see the Lululemon option — select that and enroll. After enrolling, just make a purchase at Lululemon with your Platinum Card.
