EastEnders star Davood Ghadami, who played Kush Kazemi, has shown off his impressive body with girlfriend Melanie Barker – after last year being accused of cheating

Who could have guessed quite what EastEnders‘ Kush Kazemi was hiding under his scrufy denim jacket? Davood Ghadami, the 40 year old star who played the soap market trader left nothing to the imagination when he showed off his astonishing body during a charity fitness challenge – and it’s enough to leave anyone in Walford totally wowed.

Kush – who left the soap in 2021 – was raising money for Macmillan Cancer in November last year when he took to his Instagram page alongside girlfriend Melanie Barker to show off their progress in aiming to complete 50 burpees a day for the entire month. Although he started the video fully clothed, he’d soon whipped off his top to reveal some impressive gym abs.

And alongside a wheeze-inducing video, he said: “2 days in 100 burpees done and already don’t want to see another burpee.” On an associated JustGiving page, he explained: “We are taking on a challenge that combines fitness and philanthropy: completing 50 burpees every day throughout the month. This initiative, titled “50 Burpees a Day in November,” aims to raise vital funds to support individuals living with cancer.”

Last year, the actor was forced to fire back at a social media user who branded him a cheat following his split from his wife. He had been sharing romantic photographs on Instagram with his partner Melanie Barker, 32, whom he’s believed to have met during a pantomime production three years ago.

Whilst most admirers gushed over the sun-soaked images of the pair enjoying themselves in Greece, one follower wasn’t impressed. The critic commented: “Unfollowed. Don’t like people who cheat on their spouses and break up families.”

In a sharp response, Davood replied: “Bye then! I don’t want people following me who know nothing.”

Davood tied the knot with his partner Isobel back in 2010, and the former couple share two daughters. Speaking to Woman magazine in 2018, he said: “My wife and I know each other inside out and have a genuine understanding about how the other ticks. We met 17 years ago at university so we’ve got a lot of shared history.”

He added: “I’m an incredibly lucky man. My life couldn’t be the way it is without her support. She was amazing when I was in Strictly and kept everything going.”

Yet by 2022, the Strictly contestant had crossed paths with Melanie whilst they were both starring in Aladdin. An insider revealed to The Sun at the time: “They are two very attractive people and it was clear they had sizzling onstage chemistry together.

“There was a lot of flirting backstage and I’m sure Aladdin wouldn’t have been happy that Princess Jasmine was giggling with Abanazar behind his back. But the genie is now well and truly out of the bottle and they are a proper couple – living together, training together and posting photos on Instagram together. It’s almost like a perfect fairytale ending – but for the previous partners they have left in their wake.”

Following the pantomime’s conclusion, Davood and Melanie, who had been married to Daniel Haslam, are understood to have maintained contact. Romance eventually blossomed between the pair, leading them to set up home together.

Last year, they made their relationship public on Instagram and have recently been sharing snaps from their romantic getaway in the sunshine.

This isn’t the first time Davood has faced speculation about his personal life. During his 2017 appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, he was paired with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova.

The partnership sparked whispers of the notorious Strictly ‘curse’ – with judge Bruno Tonioli even suggesting their samba resembled a “race to the bedroom”.

But Davood firmly dismissed any hint of wrongdoing, explaining that he and his then-wife Isobel understood what really went on behind the performances.

“People will say things,” he stated, adding: “As long as you know the truth and the people you love know the truth – it shouldn’t matter.”
