After UNIQLO’s expertly designed social media post teasing a new WTA Ambassador with a partial body shot on Monday morning, hours later the brand revealed the full photo revealing 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu as its newest ambassador.

Raducanu was rumored to be leaving Nike tennis for months, but many assumed it would happen at the beginning of 2026. When it did not occur then, fans thought it was fake news.

She will debut the new kit at Indian Wells next week. Raducanu is known to wear a visor on court so it is believed that UNIQLO has also designed one for her. It is unclear what shoes she will be wearing, if that link to Nike could remain.

Raducanu is the first female tennis player to become a UNIQLO Ambassador, falling in the steps of Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori, its other well-known male tennis stars.

Many predict she will not be the last, and other WTA players will make the switch.

What Emma Raducanu switching to UNIQLO means

She joins Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Anna Kalinskaya, and her compatriot Jack Draper who left Nike tennis in recent years.

Per UNIQLO, “Emma will champion UNIQLO’s LifeWear philosophy, which is committed to pursuing excellence, making meaningful contributions to socieity, and empowering the next generation.”

Who could be next for UNIQLO?

Fans predict that Filipina tennis player Alex Eala could be the next to leave Nike for UNIQLO. This seems unlikely because Nike has designed custom t-shirts and the hair tie featuring the sampaguita, a native flower of the Philippines, for Eala.

It has taken many years since Roger Federer left Nike for UNIQLO to attract a female tennis player, and UNIQLO hit a homerun with a young star like Raducanu who is the only WTA player to ever win a Grand Slam as a qualifier.

Injuries and mixed results have plagued her in recent years, but she remains a fan favorite who is immensely popular around the world.
