Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas shared a heartbreaking message online after his beloved mother died on Mother’s Day. Jamie, who’s sister is Emmerdale actress Charley Webb, shared that their mother passed after a ’12 year battle with Alzheimer’s’, before thanking everyone who has cared for her.
Alongside a sweet image with his mum, Jamie wrote: “After a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s, she finally decided it was time to leave us. For anyone who knows what it’s like to have someone with this awful illness, you will know that you lose them not once but twice. Our mum was always so strong and to watch her over the years slowly turn into someone who is just a shell of who they once were is very difficult to take and watch.”
Jamie continued: “You are now at peace mum and we love you and we will miss you so so much. You were the first person to love me before the world even knew I existed. Good night mum R I P”.

He ended the post: “I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff who cared for her on a daily basis and for those who helped her in some way. You truly are all amazing people.”
His followers rushed to send their condolences as one wrote: “Oh Jamie I am so sorry to hear this sending so much love to you and your family”, while another added: “Jamie!! I’m so so so so sorry!!! Your fighting spirit definitely came from your mama!!! Sending you so much love mate”.
Jamie opened up about his mums dementia for her 75th birthday, at the beginning of last year, where he told his followers “You only get one mum and just remember that time is precious”.
He said: “Dementia can be very cruel and very frustrating for family members, but we remember, that she was once like me and you and unfortunately her mind just doesn’t work the same anymore”, adding: “Don’t ever forget that your mum loved you before the world even knew you existed. I love you mum. Happy 75th birthday”.
