Big SHOCK to Lalu Yadav as daughter Rohini Acharya quits politics, ‘disowns’ family day after RJD’s Bihar poll debacle

About a month after cutting ties with her family, RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya has hinted at more tension. She urged the Bihar government to make sure that every woman feels safe in her parental home. Rohini, who lives in Singapore, donated one of her kidneys to her father in December 2022 during a transplant carried out there.

In a social media post on Thursday, she indirectly praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for giving Rs. 10,000 to women and providing bicycles to schoolgirls. But she said these efforts were not enough. According to her, Bihar still suffers from a deeply rooted patriarchal mindset, and real change is needed in both society and politics.

“The government’s and society’s foremost duty should be to take concrete steps to safeguard equal rights for daughters, particularly in the face of social and familial apathy,” she wrote on X roughly translated in english.

“The patriarchal mindset, deeply entrenched in Bihar, creates a pressing need for sweeping changes in both social and political spheres. Every daughter has the right to grow up with the assurance that her parental home is a safe haven, where she can return without fear, guilt, shame, or having to explain herself to anyone. Implementing this measure is not merely an administrative obligation, but a crucial step towards protecting countless women from future exploitation and abuse,” she added.

This development comes almost a month after Rohini Acharya said she was leaving politics and cutting all ties with her family.

In a post on X, she wrote, “I am quitting politics and I am breaking away from my family… This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez told me to do… and I am taking all the blame.” Her message was posted soon after the RJD suffered a major defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections.

The party’s tally in the Assembly dropped sharply from 75 seats earlier to just 24 this time.

The ruling NDA swept the Mahagathbandhan aside and kept its hold on power in Bihar, once again highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong support and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s continued influence. The results were a major setback for the Congress and its partner, the RJD.
