Choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan recently spoke about Shah Rukh Khan’s competitive nature, the atmosphere in the film industry during the 1990s and her reaction to Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. During her conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, she also shared an anecdote connected to the memorable Filmfare Awards sequence from Om Shanti Om.
Farah revealed that Aryan Khan and his collaborator Bilal once told her they had tried to outdo the famous Filmfare Awards segment from Om Shanti Om while working on the show. However, they eventually realised that the sequence had already covered everything possible. “They told me they tried to outdo the Om Shanti Om Filmfare Awards act. But then they said everything had already been done in that. So they decided, ‘Let’s just directly copy it,’” she recalled.
Talking about Aryan’s creative instincts, Farah said she was pleasantly surprised after watching The Ba***ds of Bollywood. “He’s actually a very filmy child, which I like. He hasn’t come back saying, ‘I’ll make art cinema in the US.’ I was very relieved when I saw Ba***ds of Bollywood,” she said.

Farah also reflected on Shah Rukh Khan’s competitive streak, saying the actor has always been driven but in a positive way. “He is still competitive, but in a good way. He will never cut someone else’s role. If you are doing a scene with him, he will help you. He is competitive that my movie should run, not that I should run,” she said, adding that actors should focus on the success of the film rather than individual screen presence.
