Gemma Collins celebrated an eventful day at Cheltenham Festival and marked the occasion by swigging champagne after arriving in a helicopter

The Gold Cup isn’t the only GC at the Cheltenham Festival – and don’t we just know it. Former TOWIE star Gemma Collins celebrated in style after bagging a big jackpot at the annual horse racing event.

The reality TV star, 45, cheered on the riders as she raced to a £5k win from a £500 bet on day three. She celebrated with champagne as she punched the air in delight.

The GC was among the famous faces to brave the British weather on Thursday at the iconic festival. Thousands headed to the race ground but were up against the rain and wind, which reached 50mph.

Ahead of her stint on I’m A Celeb All Stars, she made a grand entrance, arriving by helicopter. She quickly headed for the Paddy Power suite where she was joined by Danny Dyer and ex-footballer Peter Crouch.

Gemma made sure she was dressed for the occasion. She opted for a pink and blue coat with a brown fur trim and tied a silk scarf around her head. Gemma arrived with her stylist, her manager and her bodyguard and confidently posed for cameras after landing at the racecourse.

She said before the day’s activities – and her big win – “Good morning everyone I am on my way to Cheltenham via helicopter, of course, with Paddy Power. I’m so excited I can’t tell you.”

Gemma then raised a glass to the camera before peering out of the window. The helicopter ride could be getting Gemma ready for her next I’m A Celeb stint.

Twelve years ago she broke down in tears over riding in a helicopter on the hit ITV show. Before the chopper took off on the show over a decade ago, she tearfully pleaded: “Stop, I need to get out. Honestly! I’m gonna be sick.”

Revealing why she has finally decided to give it another go, Gemma said earlier in the month: “Do you know what? I have reached an age where it’s like, fight the fear and do it anyway.”

She went on: “Diamonds are literally made from pressure. And unless you put yourself under that pressure, you don’t know what you can become. So, for me, being put under such pressure, such strain, such smells, such circumstances, such trials, I came out a diamond.”
