George Springer’s wife summed up her emotions in one word Monday following the Blue Jays’ Game 7 ALCS triumph over the Mariners.
Taking to her Instagram Stories after the 4-3 home victory — in which Springer’s three-run homer helped thrust the Blue Jays to their first World Series berth since 1993 — Charlise Springer shared a photo of the star outfielder holding the William Harridge Trophy with the simple message: “Unwell.”
Follow-up posts highlighted glowing stats about Springer, who has been with the Blue Jays since 2021, including how he’s tied for third all-time in postseason home runs with 23.
Of course, his heroics in Monday’s finale of the best-of-seven series will live in Blue Jays lore, when he sailed a 381-foot drive to left field in the seventh, giving Toronto a 4-3 lead it would not relinquish.
“Bottom of our order gets it done again,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. “There’s probably not another person on planet Earth that I want up other than George Springer and his October magic.”
Charlise, who has been married to Springer for seven years, also added a video of her husband’s victory lap on the field at Rodgers Centre, where he emerged shirtless from the dugout.
“Game 7’s hero hits the field,” the caption of the post read.
The on-field celebrations weren’t limited to the players, with Charlise taking in the confetti-strewn scene with Nathalie Guerrero, the wife of ALCS MVP Vlad Guerrero Jr.
The Blue Jays, winners of back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993, will face their biggest test yet in a powerhouse Dodgers team, looking to make history as repeat champions just as Toronto did three decades ago.
“The job’s not finished. We got four more to go,” Guerrero Jr. said.
The 36-year-old Springer won his first World Series with the Astros in 2017. He went on to sign a six-year, $150 million contract with the Blue Jays.
Springer and Charlise wed in 2018 and are parents to two young children.
Game 1 of the 2025 World Series gets underway Friday in Toronto.
