Google has launched its affordable AI Plus plan in India, offering access to Gemini Pro features, 200 AI credits, and 200GB cloud storage, making advanced AI tools more accessible to everyday users.
Google recently introduced a new tier in India – Google AI Plus – which allows its users to access the company’s most powerful AI capabilities, in what it claims to be a premium experience. It is, however, quite an affordable tier, with plans starting at ₹199 per month for the first six months and ₹399 per month after that. The new plan, as explained by Google India, is an attempt to fill the void between its free offerings and more expensive premium subscriptions.
What’s in Google AI Plus?
Google AI Plus opens up access to Gemini 3 Pro model (through its AI avatar “Nano Banana Pro”) for its Indian customers. This is an important step as Gemini 3 Pro is the flagship model that powers text-based image generation and editing.
The AI Plus plan also provides users with 200 AI credits every month to power their creativity and content-generation tools such as Flow and Whisk, with users using the same to create videos and/or animated content.
AI Plus users will also get a storage of 200 GB across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. For reference, a free plan provides users with 15 GB storage.
Gemini will also be better integrated with Google’s productivity apps, with Gemini-powered features across Gmail, Docs, and Workspace.
Users will also get additional benefits, including but not limited to access to research and writing tools and bettered usage limits across assisted-writing, image creation/editing, and video generation.
The AI Plus plan, compared to the free plan
Google currently has three AI subscription plans in India: Free, Plus, and Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra, the latter two being premium offerings. Google AI Pro comes for a monthly price tag of ₹1,950 and provides a higher limit, 2 TB of storage, and a wider reach to AI tools. Google AI Ultra, with a monthly price tag of ₹24,500, is aimed at professional and enterprise-level users and thus offers a much greater usage limit, 30 TB of storage, and other advanced features.
AI Plus will serve as the entry point for users wanting an affordable yet reasonably powerful AI experience. It will also serve as the bridge between free and other, much expensive plans.
Google AI Plus in India: How it fares
Google AI Plus will be a gamechanger for many Indian users who want to access powerful AI tools but cannot afford to shell out ₹1,950-₹24,500 per month. This includes students, professionals, creatives, and hobbyists. Google AI Plus will especially be helpful to those already well-versed in Google’s ecosystem and looking for AI-based image generation and editing tools, along with some video generation. 200 AI credits each month will let the users explore the feature in creative image generation, light video editing, content writing, and so on.
Google AI Plus is also a strong contender for the similar services provided by Google’s competitors in India. The storage and integration with already-existing productivity apps will be an added bonus for users, both from the viewpoint of working seamlessly and of getting peace of mind.
AI Accessible to everyone?
AI Plus, which currently has a very attractive introductory price, can be seen as a strong first step from Google’s end in the race to make AI accessible to the general populace. It is still in the early days of AI, and there are very few people who have access to the tools to use it to its fullest extent. The company is thus opening its most powerful AI capabilities to everyone, albeit with a price. Google AI Plus can therefore be considered as the torchbearer for the others to follow.
