There are grave fears for a man involved in a crane rollover in Brisbane’s east.
The crane crashed into a power pole on Hemmant Tingalpa Road near Youngs Road at Hemmant then rolled onto its side about 8.30am on Friday.
High-voltage powerlines were brought down, which automatically switched the network off.
Energex crews were working to ensure the area was safe before emergency services could enter.
The man who had been driving the crane was trapped inside the vehicle, with firefighters on standby to work to remove him from the crane when they were able.
Multiple paramedics were at the scene, but were not been able to fully assess the man. A spokesperson confirmed he was in a life-threatening condition.
The man is not an Energex staff member.
The powerline incident affected 330 customers at Hemmant.
The affected streets are Bothies Street, Cobbler Place, Cumbalum Street, Fleming Road, Foley Road, Gross Avenue, Hemmant-Tingalpa Road, Lindsay Street, Lofty Court, Matlock Court, Oswald Street, Pam Street, Pinnibar Street, Sunrise Place, and Uralba Street.
No timeline had been provided to the media for when power would be restored to the area.
