The Cityzens showed their quality in the win on Sunday afternoon…
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed Bournemouth after his side beat the Cherries 3-1 on Sunday.
An Erling Haaland brace and Nico O’Reilly strike were enough to earn the hosts three big points in the Premier League, but they were given a scare by the visitors.
Tyler Adams pulled his side level in the first half after Haaland’s opener, and at times it looked like Bournemouth could snatch at least a point in the game.
But City’s quality shone through eventually, leaving Guardiola delighted after the game.
He said: “Bournemouth are one of the most demanding teams that we have faced. We found our rhythm and today we were better in many aspects.
“Bournemouth played an outstanding game. Last season they destroyed us. You have to match their duels otherwise…look in the second half. We lost three or four balls and they kill you.
“They are incredible. It is no surprise for me what they did last season. They lost three of their four defenders and they are still there.”
Haaland sorry for FPL players
It was another impressive display from Haaland, who continues to prove his is Europe’s elite goalscorer.
He had plenty of chances to add a third goal and complete his hat-trick, but was substituted in the final ten minutes.
He added: “Important win. It is good to bounce back after losing a bad away game. It was nice.
“I tried to contribute for the team by doing my job. It is good to win. Now two more important games to come, so keep focusing.
“I didn’t score last game. I try to help the team to win. That is my goal and even by scoring or helping in winning duels it doesn’t matter. I want to help the team become better, that is my job.”
“There were were probably a few fantasy managers who were not so happy!(after being taken off)”.
