Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey responded as the singer called her and their son out in a sweet moment during his controversial performance at this year’s Coachella

Hailey Bieber was on hand to pay tribute to her husband despite a backlash from fans. Justin Bieber’s recent Coachella set came in for criticism by viewers who hit out at his “lazy” performance.

But despite the fume, Hailey stood by her man as he gave her and their child a sweet shoutout mid set. Hailey and 19-month-old son Jack Blues Bieber received an emotional shoutout from Justin as he sang his soulful 2025 track Everything Hallelujah.

He looked at the camera as he showed gratitude for his family, saying: “Mom and Dad, hallelujah. Hailey babe, hallelujah. Baby Jack, hallelujah.”

And the camera panned onto Hailey and Jack , as she gazed at her man and blew him a kiss before waving at their adoring fans. Hailey also took to Instagram to share her sweet support for Justin in the build-up to the show.

But some fans weren’t as impressed. It’s rumoured Justin bagged himself around $10million (£7.4million) for his appearance at the iconic stateside festival. But instead of an energetic set, his stripped-down look saw the star perform in a casual hoodie, shorts and sunglasses.

And he placed himself on a stool as he sat in front of the packed crowd. Rather than entertain with a high-tempo set, the star scrolled through YouTube videos of his songs on a laptop. And he streamed his earlier music as part of a brief 12-song medley.

Viewers vented their disbelief on X, formerly known as Twitter. One user raged: “Not Justin Bieber scammed Coachella out of $10 million to play songs off of YouTube…”

Another fumed: “Justin Bieber is the worse(sic) headliner at Coachella in history because wtf your(sic) just sitting with a laptop.” It was a view backed up by another disgruntled fan who called him “lazy”.

Elsewhere at the festival, a fan was injured by a falling light. The incident occurred after John Summit took the Do LaB stage for a surprise set on Friday.

An audience member was left with a bloodied face as the light plummeted into the crowd halfway through the show. Eyewitness Joey Freshour said the moment “gashed her head open”. On Instagram, they said: “Thirty minutes in, we were all dancing [and] having a good time.

I’m chit-chatting, having a good time, talking to one of my friends. I look over, out of the glimpse of my eye – probably four people in front of me – and see the light structure. It had fallen and hit a girl directly on the side of the head, cutting her head open directly on the side, right here.”

After pointing to his temple, he continued: “Leading her to be bleeding out the side of her head… You can see little red dots on the side of the light in the video and basically that’s her blood. Not good.”
