A next-generation hydrogen-powered vessel that operated during the Expo is set to expand its role beyond the event.

The “Mahoroba,” a hydrogen fuel cell ship developed by Iwatani Corporation, runs on electricity generated through a reaction between hydrogen and oxygen from the air, making it an environmentally friendly vessel. During the Expo, it was used to transport visitors to the Yumeshima site.
On October 16th, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Iwatani signed a basic agreement to operate the Mahoroba in the Tokyo Bay area. The vessel is expected to be used for environmental education programs and international events, with operations scheduled to begin within the next fiscal year.
