The actress and writer, born in Stepney, in pre-war East London in 1936, was married to US actor Brian Greene, now 99, from 1985, living with him in London until the couple moved across the water to call LA home, from 2015.
The pair had no children but Marc, one of Brian’s sons from a previous relationship, revealed the sad news about his father’s wife.
He said: “Sandra passed away at Cedars Sinai Medical Center on September 1st 2025 of natural causes after about 6 weeks in the hospital for issues relating to extreme weight loss and a few bad falls.
“She was 89 years old. Brian has been moved to an assisted living home near me and is doing as well as a 99-year old man can.
“Sandra was cremated and her ashes are with Brian for now. They will be interred together, probably at Mount Sinai here, but it hasn’t been finalised.”

Alma and Sandra at one stage lived with their mother Fay on Kensington High Street and were known for throwing star-studded parties that attracted the biggest A-listers of the time, such as Danny Kaye, Cary Grant, Tommy Steele, and even The Beatles.
Sandra began her actor training at the Aida Foster Theatre School, adopting her stage surname in a nod to French film star Leslie Caron, so she wouldn’t simply be known as Alma Cogan’s sister. Her TV credits included iconic UK police series Z Cars and Dixon Of Dock Green, the US series The Odd Couple and Charlie’s Angels.
She also appeared in films The Belles Of St.Trinians, The Bliss Of Mrs Blossom, Dracula, and Digby: The Biggest Dog In The World. Sandra’s final acting role was in a 1995 episode of Agony Again starring her long-term friend Maureen Lipman.
In 1991, Bloomsbury published Sandra’s acclaimed book about her sister, Alma Cogan: The Girl With The Laugh In Her Voice.
