Jungle viewers reacted in shock at Sinitta’s run-in on Thursday night with Gemma Collins as she questioned her career and fellow campmates watched on in horror

So Macho singer Sinitta has emerged as one of the hot favourites to walk away with the jungle crown – but her recent behaviour in the jungle has had some fans fuming.

Sinitta clashed spectacularly with former Towie star Gemma Collins on Thursday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa – and it was not pretty.

Gemma, 45, who has admitted how much she’s struggling with jungle life, was confronted by the pop singer after the campmates were merged, having been split into two separate camps.

As tensions rose, Sinitta, 62, seemed to take aim at Gemma’s career as well as her talent, calling her a “comedian”.

She probed the Essex icon about what happened with the musical Chicago – which Gemma had been supposed to star in playing Matron “Mama” Morton in 2022, before pulling out of the production.

Gemma explained, “I had a terrible injury, it was something to do with the insurance.” But Sinitta, who played the character in the production the year before, wouldn’t let it lie, telling Gemma shockingly she thought the casting was a “joke announcement”.

A flustered Gemma responded, “It’s not a joke, Sinitta, I auditioned for it fair and square. Did all the training and everything, had a voice coach.”

Sinitta said: “I think you had just presented something, some awards, and fallen off the stage – it was like you were more of a comedian.”

The singer – seemingly unaware of the effect she was having- went on to compare Gemma to US socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor, saying, “Very camp, very glamorous.”

She added, “You don’t really do anything, but you make a great entrance and make everybody laugh. I didn’t know you could actually sing, dance and all that jazz.”

Fellow campmates, comedian Seann Walsh and former jungle queen Scarlett Moffatt had been listening into the conversation – and looked visibly shocked at Sinitta’’s out-there comments.

When the camera at one point panned to Seann, he put his head in his hands, and made a face at Scarlett, who was wide-eyed and cringing as she sunk into her hammock – but both remained silent.

Clearly furious, Gemma defended herself, saying: “I don’t think you’d get cast as Mama Morton in Chicago if you didn’t pass the audition.”

Talking to camera away from camp, a clearly unsettled Gemma confessed, “I’m not a joke, darling. I am not a joke. I have done everything in my life on my own. So I was just taken aback, but it was just a bit weird.”

Some fans were living for the tense moment, with one sharing on X: “Sinitta Just digging herself further into this hole with what shes said to Gemma Collins “#ImACeleb #ImACelebSouthAfrica”, adding a GIF of a man inside a big hole digging to make it bigger. Another wrote: “That was really rude of Sinitta to put her down like that.”

Others slammed Sinitta’s harsh words, one saying, “I think Sinitta feels a bit threatened by the possibility of loss of screen time since Gemma Collins joined main camp! #ImACeleb”.

Another commented that they felt Sinitta was “harsh”: “Sinitta Malone was a bit Harsh tonight. I mean, I Had to Google her Last Name. So Gemma Collins is more well-known than her.”
