Celine Dion is rumoured to be making a comeback to the stage, with reports suggesting she is planning a major concert residency in Paris for late 2026, marking her first full concert series since her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis
Celine Dion has been dedicating herself to her recovery as she continues to battle Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). The condition, which Celine was diagnosed with in December 2022, is an exceptionally rare autoimmune neurological disorder that chiefly causes progressive muscle stiffness and agonising muscle spasms.
It typically starts with stiffness in the trunk and abdomen (the middle of the body) that can spread to the limbs. Over time, this leads to “board-like” rigidity in affected muscles, painful spasms that can last for minutes or hours and may be strong enough to break bones, hunched posture and difficulty walking. It has been widely reported that Celine’s condition is now under control, with the Canadian singing icon and businesswoman making remarkable strides through daily physical, vocal, and athletic therapy.
Indeed, things appear so promising that speculation is mounting that Celine is plotting a major concert residency in Paris for late 2026 — her first full concert series since her SPS diagnosis four years ago.
Reports from La Presse suggest that Dion, who is celebrating her 58th birthday today, is gearing up for a run of shows at the Paris La Défense Arena. The residency is rumoured to take place in September and October 2026, with two concerts scheduled per week.
Parisian fans have already spotted posters bearing the titles of her most legendary tracks, including “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love”, stoking speculation that an official announcement could be just around the corner. Taking to Reddit today (March 30), one fan shared one of the posters, writing: “Happy Monday.”
Meanwhile, another posted a clip from French television covering the comeback, commenting: “I can’t believe the French national TV is interrupting prime time just to announce Celine Dion’s comeback. That is absolutely huge!”
A fellow fan responded: “This is so cool. I knew something was coming when she started making new videos and video messages on her socials. I’m excited to see what’s in store.”
Another enthusiast chimed in: “Yes, this is pretty massive – basically presidential treatment!”
Since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) in 2022, the iconic singer has made very few public musical appearances, focusing instead on her health and recovery.
Her most notable performances and appearances include the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony in July 2024, which was her first live performance in four years, where she delivered a breathtaking rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour” from the first level of the Eiffel Tower, insisting on singing live despite the rain rather than relying on a pre-recording.
She also gave a performance of her hits “I’m Alive” and “The Power of Love” at the high-profile fashion show 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dion further made a surprise appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards in February 2024, where she presented the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift, earning a standing ovation from the audience despite not performing musically.
She also featured in a festive advert for cosmetics giant Charlotte Tilbury towards the end of 2024, which showcased a brand new recording of her track “I’m Alive” as its soundtrack.
Her final full headline concert prior to these appearances took place in Newark, New Jersey, on 8 March 2020, before both the pandemic and her deteriorating health forced her off the road.
Dion has revealed that her voice is “being rebuilt”, undergoing gruelling vocal and physical therapy sessions five days a week in a bid to regain control of the muscles needed for singing, which are particularly vulnerable to spasms triggered by SPS.
Her condition is kept in check through a combination of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) to address the autoimmune elements, alongside physical, occupational, and aqua therapy.
In a series of recent interviews and social media updates, Dion has opened up about how her “happiness has come back” now that she is able to confront the reality of her condition rather than keeping it under wraps.
