TEHRAN – More than 350 Iranian researchers, civic activists, and political figures from across the political spectrum have signed a joint statement titled “No to War and Aggression Against Iran.” They are now calling on the public to join them by signing a petition launched at a dedicated campaign website.
The signatories describe war as the greatest political evil, warning that it would bring death, destruction, and poverty to innocent civilians while deepening the country’s crises.
“War kills, destroys, creates mourning, ruins infrastructure, impoverishes, and sacrifices the innocent,” the statement reads. “It breeds violence, exacerbates problems, and darkens the horizon for development, democracy, justice, and prosperity in Iran.”
The declaration directly accuses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and hawkish figures in Washington of seeking to destroy the country through military action, sanctions, and threats. It also references the loss of lives in January 2026 riots, stating that no cause can justify more Iranian casualties or damage to the homeland.
Despite their diverse political views, the group says it stands united against foreign aggression.
“Without hesitation or exceptions, we are against aggression on Iran,” the text continues. “In the face of any attack, we will stand with our country. We urge our fellow citizens and influential figures to raise their voices clearly against war.”
The campaign comes amid heightened military tensions in the region. The United States has increased its military presence in West Asia in recent weeks, and President Donald Trump has threatened he would attack Iran multiple times. Iran says it will respond firmly to any aggression.
