According to the same report, T-Series co-producer Shiv Chanana said he was surprised by the articles doing the rounds online linking the two films. Addressing the rumours, he stated, “We have also come across some articles, but the fact is we have never received any script from Mr Priyadarshan or his team for making a ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ franchise.”
Chanana further rubbished speculation that Bhooth Bangla was based on an old draft of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. He clarified that both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were conceived as original stories, with no narrative link between them or with any other scripts being cited now.
Reiterating the studio’s stand, Chanana added, “It is our franchise. If anything has to be developed, it will be developed by us and under our supervision, which is exactly how ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ were made. I don’t understand where these stories are coming from, this was never the case.”
Meanwhile, Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan, is gearing up for an earlier theatrical release. Initially slated for May 15, the film will now hit cinemas on April 10 2026, with the makers citing a more favourable release window. Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films, the film is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor. Alongside Akshay, the ensemble cast includes Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani and Wamiqa Gabbi, with portions shot across Rajasthan, Jaipur and Hyderabad.
