Isfahan’s World Heritage sites prepare for Ramadan, Nowruz

TEHRAN – Isfahan’s World Heritage sites are preparing for upcoming Ramadan rituals and Nowruz celebrations.

Relevant officials have said strategies have been adopted to activate the tourism capacities of the province’s World Heritage bases during the religious and cultural events, IRNA reported on Tuesday. 

Mostafa Hadipour, director of the World Heritage base of Chehel Sotoun Palace museum said that planning for the implementation of cultural and religious rituals of the holy month of Ramadan, especially Laylat al-Qadr  (Qadr Night), as well as the necessary preparations for Nowruz, were reviewed, and topics such as physical protection, maintenance of the garden space, and the restoration needs of the buildings were considered.

Hadipour also referred to the issue of private sector’s participation and said: “The feasibility study of transferring some spaces with the aim of activating investment capacities, generating sustainable income, and facilitating tourism services were among the important topics raised in this meeting.” 

He added that preparing the brochures, maps, and signboards, better introducing historical monuments, utilizing the power of sponsors and the private sector, and strengthening the information infrastructure were also among the other issues that were decided upon.

According to him, the implementation of the resolutions of the meeting will be on the agenda after the approval of the strategic council of the world heritage bases and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts.

Naqsh-e Jahan Square, Chehel Sotoun Palace museum, Atiq Jameh mosque, and Fin Garden of Kashan are among the most important global sites in Isfahan province.

Isfahan province is at the center of the attention of tourists with more than 22,000 historical monuments (1,940 national monuments and 15 World Heritage Sites) and more than 600 historical houses and various natural, cultural, religious, and recreational attractions.
