NELLORE: Prakasam district collector P. Rajababu paid rich tributes to renowned Telugu poet Gurram Jashuva on his 131st birth anniversary at the collectorate in Ongole on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the collector said Jashuva powerfully portrayed the sufferings of oppressed and marginalised communities through his revolutionary poetry, particularly Gabbilam. He noted that Jashuva’s literary works challenged prevailing social attitudes and highlighted that backward communities should not be judged by social status but by their intellectual abilities.
Rajababu urged people to draw inspiration from Jashuva’s reformist ideals, develop their intellectual capabilities and overcome feelings of inferiority to play a leading role in society.
Officials from various departments and representatives of different organisations attended the programme.
