The pair got married back in 2011 and gave their fans major family goals on social media. Now, according to a recent report by Hindustan Times, the pair has headed for separation. Neither Jay nor Mahhi has confirmed this yet, but the report has left their fans shocked. This has come at a time when Jay is vacationing in Japan with his children.

The report stated that the pair opted for separation a few months back and, despite many attempts to reconcile, it did not work out. The separation occurred some time ago, while the divorce papers were signed and finalized around July or August 2025. The kids’ custody arrangements have also been settled. Jay met Mahhi when he had gone for clubbing. In an earlier interview with ETimes, he had shared that three months was enough for him to know the girl he was getting married to. Jay had shared that Mahhi was his first girlfriend, and he had shared his principle, which was that he would get into a relationship when he was ready for marriage. For Jay, it clicked with Mahhi, and he knew that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. In his words:

“I met Mahhi when I went clubbing. Within three months, I decided that I would get into a relationship. On December 31st 2009, I proposed to her, and in 2010, we got married. I invited everyone, but no one arrived as everyone thought I was a Casanova. But, when the right person is in front of you, you keep everything else aside. Mahhi has changed my life; after Tara, she is the reason for me to live.”.

It was in 2019 when Jay and Mahhi were blessed with their biological daughter whom they named, Tara. They also have foster kids, Rajveer and Khushi, who came into their lives back in 2017. For Jay, he is someone who can give his life for his daughter, Tara. The actor had once earlier told the publication:

“In films, we often see heroes giving up their lives for their loved ones, and I never felt that way until I met Tara. She’s the one for whom I can give up my life. I have never showed this side of mine in front of Mahhi, and I never wanted to.”

Jay and Mahhi had also made a bold move by adopting Rajveer and Khushi, who were the kids of their caretaker. When Mahhi spoke on adopting them, she said that many of their friends and people kept asking them if Khushi and Rajveer were their kids. She said that yes, they were like her own children.
