Jennifer Aniston has been channelling her inner Farrah Fawcett with her retro 70s trainers, and you can pick up her ‘comfortable and stylish’ pair of Nikes for under £90
Jennifer Aniston has been setting trends ever since the 90s, with her Friends character Rachel Green still considered a style icon to this day. However recently Jen has been taking outfit inspiration from another retro fashion legend, as she channelled Farrah Fawcett’s iconic 1976 skateboarding photo with her latest footwear purchase.
In a recent Instagram post, Jen showed off her new pair of Nike Cortez trainers whilst on a flight, and included a snap of Farrah wearing the exact same pair whilst riding on the skateboard. Jen’s trainers are identical, with an all-white leather upper, a red swoosh and heel tab and blue stripe on the sole, and you can still shop them for £89.99.

The Cortez trainers are one of Nike’s original designs, and still have the same silhouette and style that they did decades ago making them a true retro design. Jen might be the latest star to give them her seal of approval, but they’ve also been spotted on countless stylish celebs like Bella Hadid and Alexa Chung in recent years too, cementing them as a wardrobe staple.
They were originally designed as a running shoe, which means they’re ultra comfortable and supportive to wear. They have a sponge soft midsole and see-saw detailing which makes them move with your foot, so you can do everything from run marathons to run errands in them.
Nike says that the Cortez trainers do tend to come up small, so it suggests taking at least a half size up. Thankfully the trainers are still stocked in all sizes from a 2.5 to a 9.5, so you can get the perfect fit for your feet.
Of course Nike’s Cortez trainers aren’t the only retro styles that have been having a comeback lately. The adidas Originals Gazelle Indoor trainers were hugely popular back in the 90s (and yes – that officially counts as retro now!) but have had a major comeback in the last few years.
Alternatively the Reebok Club C 85 in White & Green are a true 80s style, and are currently on sale down from £80 to £39.99. They were originally launched as a tennis shoe to be worn with your tennis whites at the country club, but have since become a go-to for getting that retro style.
However the Nike Cortez trainers have continued to be a popular pick, and even have a 4.8 star rating on the Nike website. One reviewer said: “I absolutely love these shoes. They are comfortable and look good with so many fits. I find them true to size and the color is great for the fall.”
Whilst another added: “They are a real blast from the past for me….I wore these all through high school. I’m an 80’s girl! I even had to get a toddler pair for my granddaughter so we could be twins.”
The main complaints were around the fit, with one saying: “Run small so size up. Very comfortable and stylish.”
With another agreeing: “These shoes are great, very cute and comfortable at the same time. I would say they run a little small. I went up a 1/2 size.”
