Jerry Jones ‘sad’ for Micah Parsons as season-ending injury derails first Packers season after Cowboys trade

Jerry Jones feels for an injured former Cowboy.

The Cowboys owner expressed sympathy for Micah Parsons on Tuesday, one day after the Packers confirmed Dallas’ former pass-rusher had suffered a season-ending ACL tear during the Packers’ Week 15 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.

“I’m sad for Micah,” Jones said during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.

“That’s quite a challenge. I wish him the very best on his recovery,” he added. “Michael Irvin said when he had his [ACL] surgery during, I think, his second year with the Cowboys, he said he realized what football really did mean to him. And he said the surgery really launched him into the best part of his career, because he got to feel what it might look like not to play again.”

Parsons exited Sunday’s Packers-Broncos in the third quarter after sustaining a non-contact injury to his left knee.

The former first-round pick was just 14 games into his Packers career following a blockbuster trade from the Cowboys in August.

Relations between Parsons and the Cowboys soured over the summer amid contract talks, with Dallas shipping the four-time Pro Bowler to Green Bay for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

That tension trickled into the season and resurfaced when Parsons and the Packers visited Dallas in Week 4, a matchup that yielded a 40–40 tie.

Following Parsons’ devastating injury, Jones delivered well-wishes to his former playmaker.

“There’s a lot of ways you can couch this thing. But, Micah, I wish you the very best,” he said.

Before his injury, Parsons, 26, racked up 12 1/2 sacks, tied for the third-most in the NFL.
