Triple-board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr Raffi Hovsepian noted that “the most noticeable shift” in Jim Carrey‘s midface and cheek area during his March 2026 chat with RadarOnline. He suggested this fullness could be due to hyaluronic acid filler or temporary swelling from recent volumising treatments. Raffi also emphasised that much of The Mask actor‘s look, including mild hollowing around the eyes and softening of the jawline, is a “natural structural ageing and possibly modest aesthetic maintenance” for men in their 60s. The plastic surgeon was quoted as saying:

“Compared to earlier images, there seems to be slightly increased fullness. The male midface is ideally flatter and more structural. When fullness increases here, it can soften masculine definition. Carry has some softening along the jawline relative to his earlier appearances…This is extremely common with aging.”

According to Dr Raffi Hovsepian, Jim might have enhanced his beauty with some fillers; he didn’t go overboard with cosmetic procedures. He also considered the light on Jim’s face, making him seem even more different. Additionally, he noted that the Dumb & Dumber actor’s face “moves naturally and retains identity”, which wouldn’t have been possible if he had gone under the knife for too many cosmetic procedures. His exact words were:

“The most important principle in male aesthetics is preserving character. Jim Carrey’s face still moves naturally and retains identity, which suggests any intervention has been conservative rather than extreme.”

In the same interview, Dr Raffi Hovsepian shared his observation regarding the possibility of Jim Carrey having undergone blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) after examining the actor’s recent photos. The doctor disagreed with the ongoing speculations, stating that he found no evidence of blepharoplasty. Instead, he attributed Jim’s face’s hollowed appearance and skin changes to “natural volume loss and dermal thinning.”

The discussion about blepharoplasty began after Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Millicent Rovelo stated that it is clear Jim Carrey had the procedure done. She observed that while 2024 photos showed excess skin hanging over the outer edges of the actor’s eyes, more recent appearances show tighter skin, making his eyes appear larger and rounder. Another Beverly Hills-based surgeon, Dr John Diaz suggested the 84-year-old likely received a combination of “facial rejuvenation procedures.” He pointed to a tighter jawline, smoother neck, and a less wrinkled brow as evidence of subtle surgical intervention.

At the 2026 César Awards, Jim debuted a completely changed look. He sported a much longer, jet-black hairstyle, rather than his typical shorter look, though he maintained his signature middle part. The actor wore a sleek all-black tuxedo paired with a matching black button-up shirt and bow tie. His eye colour also seemed to have changed from brown to green; however, that could have been achieved with a lens. Overall, Jim allegedly appeared at least 10 years younger than he looked in his last public sighting.

Additionally, Jim delivered his entire acceptance speech in French, revealing his ancestral roots to Saint-Malo, which led some social media users to speculate that his voice or identity had changed.
