Joe Kent’s resignation is telling that speaks volumes

TEHRAN – In a social media post on Tuesday, Joe Kent announced that he was resigning as Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center in protest to the Trump administration’s decision in joining Israel in the war against Iran.

Kent clearly acknowledged that the U.S. was drawn into the war against Iran under the influence of Israel. He said his “conscience” is relieved that he has quit his position.

That U.S. presidents, particularly its incumbent president Donald Trump, and Congresspersons are under the influence of Israel is an open secret. However, Kent revealed the depth of the Israeli influence. He is openly saying to the world that Israel’s influence on the U.S. so great that it can provoke the U.S. to start a war against another country without any justification.

“After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my post as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today,” Kent wrote on X.

Kent added, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.”

He confirmed that Iran was not posing any “imminent threat” to the United States.

Just in nine months, Israel has cheated the U.S. into two wars against Iran, first in June 2025 and the current one, which began on Feb. 28. However, this time the U.S. has started a full-fledged war on Iran. It has sent two of its biggest aircraft carriers to the regional waters and more are on the way. In addition, it has sent hundreds of highly advanced warplanes that have so far conducted thousands of sorties over Iran. It is also using air bases in certain European countries for striking Iran with B-1, B-2, and B-52 bombers.

The post by Kent is telling that does not need any clarification. Two leading American political scientists, John Mearshmeir and Stephen Walt, have fully cast light on the Israeli influence on U.S. decisionmakers in a book.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made hasty trips to Washington whenever Iran and the U.S. nodded diplomacy to resolve their disputes over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Netanyahu used his maximum efforts to incite Trump to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal – known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) – in 2018 that was clinched during the Obama presidency in July 2015. From that time on, Netanyahu opened the Pandera’s Box. Netanyahu has been using Trump as the most vulnerable American president to advance the

Zionist regime’s vicious plots in the West Asia region. It is for this reason that Netanyahu has called Trump Israel’s “best friend”.

Trump’s servitude to Israel has even angered the American public and certain officials, including Kent.

In his first presidency, Trump recognized the Syrian occupied Golan Heights as part of the Israeli territory and moved the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in violation of international law.

That Israel under Netanyahu has duped the U.S. into this illegal and unprovoked war on Iran has shocked Washington’s Western allies. It is for this reason that the Canadian, Italian and Spanish leaders have said the war on Iran is an indication of the collapse of the world order. Even German Chancellor Fredrich Merz, who was saying the Islamic Republic’s days are numbered, is now calling for an end to the war and return to diplomacy.

If Washington’s allies in South Korea and Japan have not openly criticized the war on Iran, it is because they are too cautious not to estrange Trump in particular and the U.S. in general.

Europeans were anxious that the U.S. was deploying military assets in the region prior to the start of the war on Feb. 28. They were warning about the dire effects of a possible war.  Their warnings came true.

Now that the war is expanding, and Iran, in retaliation to the illegal war, is not allowing U.S. oil tankers and those of its allies to pass through the Strait of Hormuz (the main transit energy route in the world) they are feeling the pain with a sudden jump in oil prices and its economic fallouts.

Even Trump’s call on its Western and East Asian allies to send warships to keep the Strait fully open has fallen on deaf ears. Europeans have openly said “it is not our war”.  European foreign policy chief Kaja Kellas has said it is not “European war”. British Prime Minister Starmer, whose country is the most ardent ally of Washington, has said: “Our decision should rest on British national interest” and that the UK “will not be drawn into the wider war.”

Surely, the Europeans would have acted more openly in opposing the war if they were not dependent on American support and weapons in the Ukraine war.

Except Germany, especially under Fredrich Merz who seems to be politically immature, the Europeans are also worried that Trump is being greatly and easily manipulated by Israel. They are noticing that Trump is parroting what Netanyahu has been lying about Iran’s nuclear program.

People across the world fully remember that famous comical drawing by Netanyahu in the UN General Assembly that was showing Iran was just weeks away from building nuclear weapons. Yet, despite the passage of long years, that drawing has not been translated into reality!!!

Now Trump repeatedly claims if he had not ordered the attack on the Iranian nuclear sites in June 2025, now Tehran possessed nuclear arms and terrified the countries with them.

Joe Kent, an insider within the Trump administration, through his social media post and resignation brought the world’s attention to this bitter fact that it was Israel and its American lobby that pushed the United States toward this unlawful war that is getting dangerous day by day.  Kent also left no doubt by those who were not quite convinced that the United States’ Trump is so much obedient to Israel and its lobbyists.

By bowing to Israel’s pressure, Trump is bringing more shame to the United States. Israel has pushed the U.S. toward a war that its repercussions may prove much more devastating and catastrophic than the one it started against Iraq in 2003.
