
Before I commence with my annual predictions, I usually like to give myself a written bouquet for a job well done the previous year. Unfortunately, I can’t do that this year.
While I did OK, correctly picking both Cy Young Award winners and one of two MVPs, that was probably no better than a par performance since favorites won all four of the most major awards, with Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes capturing Cy Youngs and Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge taking home MVPs yet again.
Judge was the one I missed on, which is even worse since he’s a hometown pick. I had Bobby Witt Jr. That wasn’t why I struck out, though. My choice for most disappointing team, the Toronto Blue Jays, was actually the exact opposite: the most pleasant surprise. Had they won the World Series (and they came within a strike and a few inches), I would have to admit that was my all-time worst prediction. It certainly ranks up there, anyway.
