For a Malabar Gold and Diamonds event in Hyderabad, Kareena Kapoor Khan chose a Debyani & Co. look built from several textile ideas at once. Styled by Lakshmi Lehr, the set drew on Ajrakh patterning, threadwork and zardozi, with the kurta cut in a straight, easy shape and densely worked across the surface.
The base was a deep inky blue, covered in small circular and floral Ajrakh-style motifs, while the front panel shifted into something more ornate. Embroidery climbed the neckline and spread across the chest in layered chevrons of ivory, red and metallic work. The sleeves and hem carried similarly dense borders, while a larger paisley-like motif broke up the repeated patterning while carrying forward the colour palette.

Instead of sitting quietly under the kurta, the poncha salwar brought in narrow vertical stripes and heavily embellished cuffs. Kapoor Khan paired the set with Gianvito Rossi heels and eye-catching earrings in gold, green and red, which picked up the colours already running through the embroidery. Hair by Aanchal A Morwani was pulled back cleanly from the face and left open at the back. Tanvi Chemburkar kept the makeup warm with smoky kohl-rimmed eyes, a pink-toned nude lip and a flush in the cheeks that matched the tones of her eyeshadow.
Each part of the ensemble is doing a different job: the Ajrakh keeps the base busy, the embroidery gives the front structure, and the striped salwar breaks the surface before the eye gets stuck in one pattern. The palette keeps those shifts from splintering, with the same inky blue, ivory, red and antique gold moving across the ensemble.
