There will be no Karl-Anthony Towns-Draymond Green rematch.
The Knicks, after their five-game road trip, host the Warriors at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night, the second of their two regular-season matchups this year.
Towns, after missing the win over the Pacers on Friday night with knee soreness, is not listed on the injury report, meaning he should be good to go.
But Green (lower back injury management) is out for the Warriors.
During the last matchup with the Warriors, a 126-113 Knicks road loss in January, Green dragged Towns down by his leg with an ugly flagrant foul.
Green has long had it out for Towns in particular. After that January matchup, Green on his podcast made fun of Towns, including his voice.
And it wasn’t the first time. Green has on multiple occasions lashed out at Towns on his podcast and in the media.
Last year, Green accused Towns of skipping a game against the Warriors, claiming it was because Towns did not want to play against his longtime nemesis — and his former Timberwolves teammate — Jimmy Butler III.
But in reality, Towns was attending a funeral for a family friend.
This time around, it will be Green sitting out.
The Warriors will also be without Stephen Curry, taking some of the juice out of what could have been an intriguing matchup.
Josh Hart (knee soreness) and Jeremy Sochan (illness) are both questionable for the Knicks.
They both missed Friday’s game.
For the first time this year, the Knicks are top five in both offensive and defensive efficiency.
Entering Saturday, they had an offensive rating of 118.2 – third best in the NBA — and defensive rating of 111.8 — fifth best in the NBA.
The Knicks and Spurs are the only two teams in the top five in both.
Sunday’s game starts a stretch of five games in which all the Knicks’ opponents are currently .500 or below.
