Kate Ferdinand previously admitted to ‘struggling’ in Dubai but now the mum-of-two has praised the country saying her kids are ‘learning so much’

Fitness guru Kate Ferdinand has had an emotional rollercoaster when it comes to her move to Dubai, but the former TOWIE star seems to have had quite the change of heart when it comes to her new life out there.

She had previously admitted she was ‘homesick’, her mental health was suffering and she was ‘struggling’- more recently keeping fans updated as she and the family sheltered in the basement of their home one night, during scary Iranian drone strikes.

But in what feels like quite an about-face, the 34-year-old has now opened up in a new podcast episode of her Blended podcast about how much she’s loving her life in the Middle Eastern country – and says her son is even picking up the lingo.

She explained that she’d had a “mindset” shift and gushed about how her kids are “learning things they wouldn’t in the UK.” She said: “It’s a different vibe and I feel like living in a different country with different religions and so many different cultures, you learn to pick up so much. And my children are learning things that they probably wouldn’t.

“They might learn it in the UK, but they wouldn’t actively be living it in the UK, that’s something I really love about Dubai.”

As her co-host said: “Masha’Alla,” she replied: “Yeah I’m a bit like, I don’t feel comfortable saying the words – I don’t feel like I’ve got the right voice but Cree will say the words because he’s learning Arabic, whereas I just feel a bit awkward with it still.”

Discussing what daily life is like in Dubai during the religious festival of Ramadan, she said, “The kids have shorter days, my children are going to school from 8:45am and they get picked up at 1pm, so like they’re doing half days.

She added, “Everything changes, I like the energy, it’s quite calming – not when the kids come back at 1pm by the way – it’s just something that I’ve not experienced before.

“It’s a different vibe and I feel like living in a country with different religions and so many different cultures, you learn so much and pick up so much.”

The latest podcast episode was a Mother’s Day special recorded just two days before Dubai was caught up in the terrifying conflict in the Middle East.

It projects a starkly different tone to the messages Kate was sending about her new home back in January, when in an emotional post she admitted she wasn’t coping very well, having moved to Dubai last summer with football legend Rio, their son Cree, 5, daughter Shae, 2 and Tia, 14 – Rio’s daughter from his first marriage.

In the candid Instagram post she wrote, “Life is busy, I’m trying to slow down and not move at a fast pace everywhere. [It’s] not perfect, but I’m more aware of what I am doing, I’m trying to stop myself in my tracks sometimes.

“Listen, I’ve got a busy life, but I’m actively trying to do like some breath work and some things to like change my mindset cause I realise nothing can change this apart from me.

“You’ve got to actually make changes in your life so I’m trying to do that and I feel like it’s going ok.”
