Kate Ferdinand may be enjoying her sun-soaked new chapter in Dubai with Rio and the kids but she has detailed one extremely unpleasant downside of life there
Kate Ferdinand has admitted tearfully that she is ‘struggling’ with the family’s move to Dubai as she reveals one major con to the sun-soaked Middle Eastern country
Kate, 34, and her football legend husband Rio, 47, upped sticks from London last summer with their little ones to begin a brand-new life in Dubai.
A favourite destination for British celebs, the move seemed like a fairytale on paper – but as mum-of-two Kate has revealed, her life there isn’t as perfect as it might first seem.

While Rio ‘loves’ their new life abroad, Kate has been honest with her fans about the downsides of moving away from England.
She previously became teary during an episode of her podcast Blended as she admitted it’s ‘tough’ for her – and earlier this month admitted that she was “missing home quite a lot”.
Now, she has revealed that the heat in Dubai – where she and Rio first met in 2016 while on respective holidays – has caused her to have a physical reaction – and that boils have appeared on her neck.
Opening up on the latest episode of her podcast, which details the realities of life co-parenting in blended families, she confessed: “My skin has been so bad since I’ve lived in Dubai.”
She added, “I’ve had so many breakouts, I’ve normally got quite clear skin and I’ve been having boils under my neck. I don’t know if it’s the heat or the weather, I’m very insecure about it.”
Kate also spoke about the water quality in the UAE, explaining that showers out there need to have filters installed – and washing fruit in tap water is not advised.
Previously, the TV star had opened up about the tougher aspects of the family’s life-changing move, admitting that it’s amazing for the children and their are ‘thriving’ and loving having more ‘outdoor freedom’.
But she also revealed, emotionally. “I am enjoying it, but I miss home quite a lot. I can’t talk about it because I get upset.”
Kate and Rio‘s blended family includes five children – the couple’s two children Cree and Shae, and Rio’s children Lorenz, 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, who he welcomed with his late wife Rebecca.
Though the blended family is very close, Rio’s two eldest sons, Lorenz and Tate look like they’re following in dad’s footsteps – and have remained in the UK so they can focus on their promising football careers.
And Kate has admitted that being so far from her stepsons has added to her struggles, saying, “I miss the big boys a lot and I’m just struggling with that.
“I know this decision is right for my younger children and as a family we are settled there, but the boys are following their football careers.
“So they’re doing what they want to do otherwise they’d be with us. But it’s very hard because we’ve been through so much as a family and we’ve always been together and that’s a huge adjustment.”
Tellingly, Kate also admitted that though she feels happy in her new home, a part of her is “missing”.
