Another experienced reliever has come off the free-agent market.
Longtime closer Kenley Jansen agreed Saturday to a one-year contract with the Tigers with a club option for 2027, according to multiple reports.
The 38-year-old Jansen has recorded 476 career saves — the fourth-most in MLB history and two behind Hall of Fame closer Lee Smith for third — over 16 major-league seasons with the Dodgers, Braves, Red Sox and Angels.
Those numbers include 29 saves with a 2.59 ERA in 62 appearances for the Angels last season.
The Mets lost All-Star closer Edwin Diaz to the Dodgers via free agency, and free-agent relievers Ryan Helsley (Orioles), Gregory Soto (Pirates) and Tyler Rogers (Blue Jays) also have signed elsewhere.
They also had interest in Padres free agent Robert Suarez, but he inked a three-year deal with the Braves.
The Mets did sign former Brewers and Yankees closer Devin Williams earlier in the offseason.
Will Vest led Detroit with 23 saves last season, with ex-Yankee Tommy Kahnle adding nine.
The Tigers, who lost to the Mariners in the AL Division Series, also re-signed deadline pickup Kyle Finnegan to a two-year deal earlier this week at the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla.
