Kerry Katona and Katie Price’s pals are ‘worried’ the pair will fall out again following their tour, as Kerry is ‘upset’ over ‘selfish’ Katie, as cracks show in friendship

They appear to be the best of friends as they tour the nation with their outrageous stage show, An Evening With Katie Price And Kerry Katona, but pals are worried there may be trouble on the horizon for the pair.

After weeks on the road together, there are fears that cracks could begin to show in their friendship, especially given their past fallouts and the fact that Katie regularly stirs up controversy during their performances. Last week, Katie, 47, stunned fans when she appeared to address the rape allegations her ex-husband Kieran Hayler is facing – which he strongly denies – at the London date of their tour.

Referring to “current news”, she said she had a “real reason to be wary of things”, adding, “I can’t say any more on it, but I’m sure you know what I’m getting to.” And at a gig in Grimsby, the mum-of-five shocked the audience when she gave the name of the TV star she claims raped her several years ago. While it’s no surprise Katie is being as outspoken as ever, there are fears that her bringing up such emotionally charged topics in the already intense atmosphere of a gruelling tour could create a “pressure cooker” environment for the pair.

“They’re both very highly strung and have had a love-hate relationship,” a source tells new. “Kerry has been a very, very good friend to Katie and has really stuck by her, but there have been toxic rows that have led to a rocky friendship in the past.” The source adds that while mum-of-five Kerry is very fond of Katie, her pal’s unpredictable nature can take its toll.

“At times Katie can have a tendency to be selfish while Kerry can take on too much. Kerry has been a little upset when Katie’s been late for their theatre performances. She’s always supportive, but over time it can wear her down.”

The source continued, “They both have commitments, their kids and a lot going on, so as the tour goes on, pals fear the tension could be a ticking time bomb. Kerry can only take so much, and it’s natural that they may fall out while spending so much time together.”

Katie and Kerry, 45, have a history of falling out then making up over the course of their 21-year friendship. The girls first grew close while in the I’m A Celebrity jungle in 2004. Kerry was a bridesmaid at Katie’s wedding to Peter Andre the following year, but two years later their friendship hit a rocky patch when Katie branded Kerry a “druggie”.

She also claimed Kerry’s second husband, Mark Croft, was “a bully”. Although Kerry admitted she’d been “upset” by her pal’s claims, she later said Katie had apologised, which salvaged their friendship. But the truce didn’t last. In 2008, Katie was furious when Kerry publicly commented on her parenting skills and also failed to invite her to son Max’s baby shower.

Two years later, things got even more tense between them after Kerry described Katie’s ex-husband Pete as the “ideal candidate” to be her new boyfriend. Referring to their volatile relationship, mutual pal and I’m A Celeb co-star Alex Best said, “It is a strange relationship – one moment they’re speaking, the next they’re not. It’s so turbulent and a bit toxic.”

But by the time Kerry married George Kay in 2014, she and Katie had reconciled and Kerry asked Katie to be a bridesmaid – only for the reality star to pull out at the last minute. Unable to squeeze into her size eight dress because she’d given birth to daughter Bunny weeks earlier, she instead attended as a guest – putting bride Kerry’s nose out of joint.

“I wasn’t best pleased,” she admitted in her 2022 autobiography, Whole Again: Love, Life and Me. “I was probably a bit of a bridezilla anyway, so I felt pretty pissed off.”

As always, the duo patched things up – only for Kerry to enrage Katie once again by declaring that she had “crossed a line” with her plastic surgery following her facelift in 2019.

Kerry and Katie – whose 18-year-old daughters Princess and Heidi are also close – spent last Christmas together, but our source says that won’t be a regular occurrence. Kerry is now loved-up with new boyfriend Paolo Margaglione, while Katie has been fighting off rumours of a rift with her boyfriend of 18 months, Married At First Sight star JJ Slater.

“Katie and Kerry have been in each other’s pockets and want to have a bit of time off from each other so Christmas is off the cards,” our source says. “Once the tour is over, the dust needs to settle and they need some space. It won’t be long before they make up, fall out, then make up again.”

They added, “Pals are worried the pair will fall out again, but at the moment they are in a good place and think their friendship is stronger than ever. They just want to put the past behind them.”

Despite the turbulent nature of their bond, Katie insisted last year that the pair will be “friends forever”, writing on social media, “Nobody will tarnish our friendship, we will always support each other and if we really need help we are there for each other.”
