The Rams’ coaching staff just got even better.

Former Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, 46, will join Los Angeles’ coaching staff, ESPN reported Friday.

ESPN also reported that Kingsbury and Rams head coach Sean McVay had been talking over the last two weeks.

The Giants’ hiring of Matt Nagy for their offensive coordinator role opened up an opportunity for the Rams to snag Kingsbury, whom New York reportedly looked at as another strong candidate.

In two years with the Commanders, Kingsbury showed his offensive prowess.

He helped rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels capture Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2024 and took Washington all the way to the NFC Championship, its first time doing so since 1991.

However, after a 5-12 2025 season — caused by Daniels playing just four full games and a slew of other injuries — Kingsbury parted ways with the Commanders.

ESPN said the decision came due to Kingsbury and head coach Dan Quinn not agreeing on how to run Washington’s offense.

Kingsbury was, however, liked by Daniels and backup Marcus Mariota.

“I just wish I was out there more to play for [Kingsbury] this past year,” Daniels said.

Kingsbury logged 10 years coaching college football before jumping to the NFL in 2019.

He spent time with Houston, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

As the Aggies’ offensive coordinator, he guided quarterback Johnny Manziel to the Heisman Trophy as a true freshman in 2012.

With the Red Raiders, he also molded Patrick Mahomes into early stages of the star he is now.

After his stint with Texas Tech, he was hired as the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach in 2019.

However, he produced a 28-37-1 record and just one playoff appearance across four years in Glendale.

Kingsbury now joins a Rams squad coming off an NFC Championship loss to the Seahawks.

In nine years under McVay, Los Angeles has made the playoffs seven times, including a Super Bowl title in 2021.

The Rams have plenty of offensive playmakers for Kingsbury to use as well.

Star wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams will both be back, while running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum helm one of the best backfields in the league.

And Matthew Stafford announced Thursday that he’ll be returning for another season after winning his first-career MVP award.

Kingsbury just entered one of the best situations possible.
