Kurt Cobain’s death could be a homicide, according to a new investigation, with experts claiming that all the clues point to this, rather than a suicide, which was originally listed

Kurt Cobain’s cause of death has been questioned, with scientists claiming his cause of death could be a homicide. The legendary Nirvana frontman tragically died 32 years ago from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Seattle.

At the time, the King County Medical Examiner ruled that his official cause of death was a suicide by a Remington Model 11 20-gauge shotgun. However, specialists have put fresh eyes on Kurt’s autopsy and believe that this wasn’t actually the case.

Instead, a new team believe that his death was caused by homicide. An unofficial team of private sector forensic experts have drafted in Brian Burnett, a specialist who has previously worked on cases which involve overdoses followed by shotgun wounds.

Michelle Wilkins, an independent researcher on the team, has also claimed that after just three days of reviewing the evidence, things don’t add up. “This is a homicide. We’ve got to do something about this,” she said.

Wilkins claims that she came to her conclusion following a lengthy investigation into the review of the initial autopsy findings, which allegedly didn’t match up to an instant death caused by a gunshot wound.

The findings, a peer-reviewed paper, claim that evidence suggests that Kurt was confronted by one or more assailants who allegedly forced a heroin overdose in order to incapacitate him, before one shot him in the head and placed a gun in his arms, also leaving an alleged forged suicide note.

She told the Daily Mail: “There are things in the autopsy that go, well, wait, this person didn’t die very quickly of a gunshot blast.” She claims that the findings pointed to organ damage associated with oxygen deprivation. Wilkins went on to add: “The necrosis of the brain and liver happens in an overdose. It doesn’t happen in a shotgun death.”

Wilkins went on to claim: “To me, it looks like someone staged a movie and wanted you to be absolutely certain this was a suicide. The receipt for the gun is in his pocket. The receipt for the shells is in his pocket. The shells are lined up at his feet.”

She went on to claim that people are “supposed to believe” that Cobain had capped the needles and placed everything back in order before injecting himself three times. “Suicides are messy, and this was a very clean scene,” she said.

Police who investigated Cobain’s death say that he injected himself ten times the normal amount of what a heavy heroin user would have injected. His autopsy discovered fluid in his lungs, bleeding in his eyes, as well as damage to the brain and liver.

The findings, according to the report, are unusual for a gunshot wound death, but are common in heroin overdoses. The bleeding eyes and organ damage suggest that Cobain’s body may have been deprived of oxygen, according to the team.

A spokesperson for the Medical Examiner’s Office said: “King County Medical Examiner’s Office worked with the local law enforcement agency, conducted a full autopsy, and followed all of its procedures in coming to the determination of the manner of death as a suicide.

“Our office is always open to revisiting its conclusions if new evidence comes to light, but we’ve seen nothing to date that would warrant reopening of this case and our previous determination of death.”
