The Lalbagh Ka Raja Trust is gearing up for a spectacular Ganesh Mahotsav in New Delhi, featuring the iconic Lalbagh Ka Raja Ganesh statue from Mumbai. This revered statue, which first appeared in Delhi in 2015, will be showcased once again this year.
During a press conference at the Constitution Club in New Delhi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari, a member of the organizing committee, shared details about the festival. “People from across the country travel to Mumbai to have darshan of Lalbagh Ka Raja. Since 2015, we’ve brought the Lalbagh Ka Raja to Delhi, and I invite everyone in Delhi NCR to join us,” Tiwari stated.
The Ganesh Mahotsav will take place from September 7 to 16, at the DDA Ground near Sanat Nirankari Samagam in Burari. The massive pandal will cover 600,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate approximately 500,000 devotees. The venue will host cultural programs, musical performances, and discourses by prominent speakers like Baba Bageshwar Ji and Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj.
Rakesh Bindal, Chairman of the Lalbagh Ka Raja Trust, highlighted the festival’s attractions, including a giant adventure wheel and various entertainment options. “We expect between 100,000 and 500,000 devotees to attend, enjoying cultural performances and a variety of food stalls offering regional dishes,” he said.
The Ganesh statue will be an eco-friendly replica of the original, crafted at the same location as the Mumbai idol. It will be immersed in a specially prepared pit at the event site.
As preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi intensify, idol makers in the city are focusing on creating eco-friendly statues. The market is bustling with activity, with sculptors finalizing idols in various sizes and designs. There is a significant demand for eco-friendly idols, prompting artisans to use more clay and herbal colors instead of plaster of Paris and chemical dyes, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
The festive atmosphere is palpable as devotees eagerly anticipate the arrival of Lalbagh Ka Raja in Delhi, ready to celebrate with joy and devotion.
