Love Island’s Laura Anderson lived in Dubai for years but today she was forced to leave the country as the devastating war in the Middle East continues
Laura Anderson has shared a tearful update after being stranded in Dubai following the terrifying air strikes. The Love Island star, 36, who lived in the UAE for years, was among a whole host of famous faces who were caught up in the horror as the devastating war in the Middle East continues.
Laura flew to Dubai with her daughter, Bonnie, 18 months, on Friday and insisted the pair were fine despite the “horrifying” scenes. However, over the weekend the country suffered a number of drone attacks after Israel and the US waged war with Iran. Deciding to book the next flight out of the country back to Scotland, Laura managed to jump on a plane with Bonnie today.

Sharing a snap from the aircraft on Instagram, she said both the airport and the plane were quiet as she thanked the UAE government for looking after her. Captioning her photo, she wrote: “The airport was quiet as expected. People were so helpful, I felt a bit teary. Everyone on board is very quiet. I assume on edge like me.”
Insisting that, despite her concerns, she was feeling positive, she continued: “My dad’s favourite song just came on so I’m feeling positive. Thank you to the UAE government for protecting us and for continuing to protect my friends and family. I will always be proud to have been an ex-pat.”
Laura later shared a snap of herself holding little Bonnie’s hand on the plane as she explained she had initially had booked a flight for a week later, which she’d cancelled. Revealing she was en route to Edinburgh, Laura said: “I’m flying to Edinburgh. My original flight was for next Monday. I booked another flight and will refund Monday’s.”

Laura had been in Dubai visiting her sister before she was forced to flee the country. Captioning a video of Bonnie playing in the sun before they left, she said: “Ventured outside to my sister’s garden for half an hour before we leave. Appreciate this moment so much had to share.”
It came moments after she revealed the pair were able to get a flight home. In a post, Laura said she didn’t want to “jinx” things, but offered advice to others in her situation.
“Bonnie and I are hoping to get home today,” she wrote. After urging people to contact their flight organisers if they are struggling, she went on: “We obviously have been lucky ours is going ahead so far and you are running the risk of another cancellation but for us it was worth it.”
Just hours before reports of the explosions, Laura had uploaded a snap of her and Bonnie at Glasgow Airport waiting to board their flight to the UAE.
However, shortly after, the dream trip turned into a nightmare as Donald Trump announced the US had launched ‘major combat operations’ in Iran while Israel‘s defence minister said the country had launched a ‘preventative attack’ against Iran to “remove threats”. Iran has since retaliated by striking Israeli and US military targets across the Middle East.
