South Indian actresses are no longer staying silent about online harassment. Recently, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Eesha Rebba, Anupama Parameswaran, and Nidhhi Agerwal approached cybercrime officials to take action against toxic trolling. Lavanya Tripathi is the latest actress to do the same.
Lavanya’s legal move
The Andala Rakshasi actress has filed a formal complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police. Lavanya, who is part of the larger Konidela family headed by Megastar Chiranjeevi, decided to take action after a specific Instagram account allegedly began a relentless campaign of harassment against her.
According to the complaint, the account did not stop at petty insults but reportedly posted highly defamatory content, false allegations, and objectionable remarks targeting her character and family. Lavanya stated that these attacks were a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation and had caused her significant mental distress.
The police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the IT Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is currently underway, and officials are using digital forensics to track down the individual behind the account.
Family is the red line
During a recent event for her upcoming film Sathi Leelavathi, Lavanya was vocal about her boundaries. She made it clear that while she can handle professional criticism, she has “zero tolerance” for anyone dragging her family into controversy.
The actress said that targeting a person’s loved ones is a low blow that no one should have to endure. Addressing criticism about alleged male-child preference in the Konidela family, she wrote on X: “You clearly don’t know how he (Chiranjeevi) treats the women in his family, especially his granddaughters. Very few men can do even 1% of what he does, so it’s best not to comment on people you don’t truly know.”
Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan are among the prominent members of the high-profile Konidela family.
