‘Law & Order’ Actor George Pogatsia Says He Stopped a Real-Life Abduction

Like a scene out of a Dick Wolf production, “Law & Order” actor George Pogatsia and his wife thwarted the attempted abduction of a 19-year-old woman … TMZ has learned.

George tells TMZ … while getting back from dinner in Jersey City Heights, NJ, the couple spotted a man approach the young woman on the street around 10:30 PM Saturday. The woman seemed to be intoxicated and rejected the man, whom she said she didn’t know, when he tried to convince her to go with him.

George says the woman tried to run away from the stranger, but he picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. At this point, George says he confronted the man, warning him to put her down or things would get physical real quick.

As George moved toward the attacker to make good on his promise, the would-be kidnapper dropped the woman and ran off, George says.

Police and first responders reportedly later arrived on the scene.

George says, “I hope she’s okay. I’m happy I was able to step up and stop it.”
