The Mean Girls star has reportedly decided to remain in Dubai rather than return to the US as conflict in the Middle East ramps up

Lindsay Lohan‘s family are said to be “concerned” for the actress and her living situation in Dubai as conflict in the Middle East intensifies. The Mean Girls star lives in Dubai with her financier husband Bader Shammas and their son Luai.

Dubai has become a celebrity hotspot in recent years, but many who relocated there are now looking to leave after explosions were reported in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and missiles were said to be targeting military bases across the region.

Lindsay committed to moving to the UAE in 2014 and has been based in Dubai for the majority of the time since. A source connected to her family have said they are worried for her, but that the star is currently safe.

“There’s a lot going on over there,” the source said to the Daily Mail after stating how “concerned” the family were. “The family has been in constant communication. Right now, she’s safe.”

The source added that Lindsay is “really comfortable in Dubai”, but admitted that “it’s a scary time for everyone, including Lindsay”. Dubai has reportedly been a fresh start for the actress who moved there after years of intense scrutiny in America.

She told Vogue Arabia: “Being in Dubai is very grounding. I get to just spend time with my family. The city gives me a sense of being with what’s most important.”

Lindsay has flown back to the US over the years, primarily when she is working on new films, including a Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, and for a cameo in the Mean Girls musical movie. While the source said her relatives would like her in the country more often, they are respecting her wishes and consider “her peace and happiness” to be the “most important things” as well as her safety.

Last Saturday (28 February), US president Donald Trump announced that the US and Israeli militaries had begun “major combat operations” in Iran. He said that the aim was to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime”.

In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at several US military bases across the Middle East, including in the UAE. Dubai is reported to be on lockdown and several celebrities are still there.

One such celebrity is former footballer Rio Ferdinand. He admitted to feeling “scared” because of the missile strikes and said he was trying to “remain calm” for his children.

Rio lives in Dubai with his wife Kate. They moved there last summer and in a recent update to fans, Kate shared that she and her children had a “very scary night”. She praised the UAE government for “doing an amazing job” and said that despite her nerves, she feels that they “are in very safe hands.”

She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Thank you for all of your messages and sorry for the silence, I haven’t wanted to worry you all I just haven’t been able to find the words. We are safe.”

She continued: “The government are doing an amazing job of keeping it that way and despite my nerves I feel we are in very safe hands. We are hoping for a calmer evening tonight, last night was very scary.

“Although Cree and Shae loved it as they couldn’t believe we all got a sleepover in the basement.” She concluded: “Thank you all for your prayers, this whole experience is very eye opening & I am praying for anyone affected. Lots of love to everyone.”
