A former Love Island star had to undergo emergency surgery for an abdominal issue and was sent a sweet note from producers of the show

A Love Island winner has been hospitalised and had to undergo emergency surgery. Amaya “Papaya” Espinal, who was crowned season seven winner in the stateside version of the show was rushed to hospital for surgery over the weekend.

It’s said the reality TV star, 27, had been suffering from abdominal pain. Reports suggest Amaya remains in hospital in Los Angeles.

She gave her social media followers an update shortly after her surgery. Sharing a snap from her hospital room, Amaya also revealed ITV had sent her well wishes. She showed off a bouquet of flowers and she held up a note that read: “Your friends at ITV and Beyond the Villa are thinking of you and wishing you a speeding recovery.”

Amaya simply captioned her upload with emojis, using hearts and teary-eyed offerings. She has been filming the spin-off show of the dating series.

Her reemergence on the show comes as she and Bryan Arenales confirmed they had ended their brief romance after winning the reality TV competition and splitting the $100,000 prize. She said in August: “My papayas—Bryan and I are no longer together.

“After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn’t align and relationships are suppose to be a team sport. All love here, and I truly wish him the best.”

UK fans of Love Island are readying themselves for the latest instalment of the All Stars show. The latest instalment is set to kick off in January and one former contestant has seemingly revealed they are taking part.

Scott van‑der‑Sluis is reportedly set to return and the 24-year-old footballer is no stranger to appearing on the show. He first entered the villa as a bombshell in the 2023 series in season 10.

At the time, he finished in sixth place with Abi Moores. The pair were sent home from the ITV show just before the final, which was later won by Jess Harding and Sammy Root.

Scott surprised fans be appearing on the US version a month later.. Sadly for the Welshman, he didn’t make much of an impression as he was dumped from the island after just a week.

That same year, Scott also competed in the Love Island Games. It marked the dating show’s first ever spin off show. However, once again, he didn’t fare well and was dumped from the villa after only three days.

But despite his past woes, the goalkeeper is now said to be making a return to Love Island when the All Stars series kicks off in South Africa in the New Year to have another shot at finding a partner.
