Vijayawada:Distributors of LPG have asked the state government to protect their staff members and delivery boys from being attacked by LPG consumers in the wake of cooking gas shortage.
LPG Distributors Association state president Srinath Reddy said on Tuesday that distributors from all the districts in AP have met and shared their bitter experiences of people assaulting their staff members in Itchapuram and Machilipatnam.
Srinath Reddy maintained that the delivery of LPG cylinders is being undertaken as per norms stipulated by both the central and state governments. Accordingly, they are making deliveries based on getting the OTP.
The association president charged that some people are attacking the delivery boys as well as their offices for not delivering LPG cylinders to them. He cautioned that if attacks on them and their staff continue, they would stop delivery of LPG cylinders in their entirety.
He ruled out any chance of diverting commercial LPG cylinders to the black market.
