Energex crews were working to ensure the area was safe before emergency services could enter.

The man who had been driving the crane was trapped inside the vehicle, with firefighters on standby to work to remove him from the crane when they were able.

Multiple paramedics were at the scene, but were not been able to fully assess the man. A spokesperson confirmed he was in a life-threatening condition.

The man is not an Energex staff member.

The powerline incident initially affected 330 customers at Hemmant, but by 6pm no properties were reported as still experiencing outages on the Energex website.
