It’s said Brooklyn Beckham’s online tirade broke Lady Victoria Beckham, so the fashion designer was reportedly happy to hear a warm message from friend Marc Anthony this week

Lady Victoria Beckham is said to be delighted with the show of support from friend Marc Anthony amid her family fallout.

The Latino singer, who is a close friend of the Beckhams, performed at Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s wedding and this week spoke about his recount of events. The 57-year-old entertainer boldly insisted some of Brooklyn’s recollection “is hardly the truth” and described the Beckhams as “a wonderful family”.

And Lady Victoria is understood to be pleased with the support, following a reported “pile on” on social media after Brooklyn’s initial outburst. Brooklyn, 26, had said: “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life” in relation to his mother’s alleged inappropriate dancing at the wedding.

One friend of the family said: “Finally there is someone calling out Brooklyn for what he said. [Brooklyn’s] message broke his mother. Though she is adamant it wasn’t true, there was such a pile on. But someone actually credible has come out and said the truth. While there is no way that Marc would have wanted to cause any more pain for anyone involved, those four words will mean the world to Victoria.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the source continued: “Marc is a long-standing friend of David and Victoria’s and he adores Brooklyn. He was touched to be a part of the wedding. It would have been upsetting for him to be caught up in all of this. There will of course be a sense of relief that the lies being told about Victoria by Brooklyn are unravelling.”

It is understood Marc’s use of the phrase “is hardly the truth” was particularly pertinent for Lady Victoria, who rose to prominence in the 1990s as a member of the pop group the Spice Girls.

But it was initially thought Marc, a four-time Grammy Award winner, had not planned to talk about the incident at Brooklyn’s wedding or the ensuing fallout in the interview with the Hollywood Reporter. Yet, he went on to give a detailled and emotional interview with the publication, in which he explained Lady Victoria and Brooklyn had their brief boogie during his performance of the salsa-inspired hit I Need to Know, at around 11pm on the evening of the wedding.

Marc, who himself is a father of seven, continued: “I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz. I’m really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out – but [how it’s playing out] is hardly the truth.
