‘Married At First Sight’ Fame, Mel Schilling Shares Her Terminal Cancer Has Spread, ‘My Light Is..’

Married at First Sight star, Mel Schilling, shared her heartbreaking health update on social media. The dating coach and behaviour specialist took to her social media account and penned a long note reflecting on her journey and the saddening diagnosis she had received with her latest scan. 

Mel Schilling’s cancer has spread

Mel Schilling took to her social media account on March 12, 2026 (ET), and penned a long note, sharing her cancer diagnosis and how it has spread to the left side of her brain. The dating coach revealed how she began experiencing a blinding headache and numbness down her right side around Christmas 2025. She added that after a series of tests, the results left her heartbroken. Despite a series of radiotherapy sessions, her medical team has now shared that there was nothing else they could do.

Mel Schillings further shared that hearing those words changed everything for her and her family. She revealed that her light has begun to fade, and she doesn’t know how much time she has left. Nonetheless, she assured her fans that she will fight the horrible disease till her dying breath. She was quoted as saying:

“My oncology team have now told me there is nothing further they can do. Hearing those words changes everything. So that’s where I am now. My light is starting to fade — and quickly. But I am still here, still fighting, and surrounded by the most incredible love. Simple tasks have become incredibly difficult, and I am relying on my beautiful family to look after me. I honestly don’t know how long I have left, but I do know I will fight to my last breath and will be surrounded by the love and support of my people.”

Mel Shilling’s cancer journey

In the same post, Mel Shilling revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer in December 2023. She recalled that a lemon-sized tumour was found on her colon. She shared that the tumour she named ‘Terry’ was removed, and she was given an all-clear. However, in late February 2024, during a routine scan, small nodules were discovered in her lungs. She also shared how she has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy. Her post could be read as:

“Unfortunately, in late February 2024, during a routine scan, small nodules were discovered in my lungs. The cancer had metastasised, and my world changed again in an instant. Over the past two years, while filming MAFS, I underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later told I was eligible for a groundbreaking clinical trial specific to my gene type, due to start in March 2026. Once again, my optimism soared at the thought of beating this thing.”

Mel Schilling expressed her gratitude to her fans

Later in the note, Mel Schilling expressed her gratitude to her fans for the support she had received during her journey. She revealed that the messages have helped her shape her mindset and encouraged her to keep fighting. She was quoted as saying:

“At the outset of this journey, so many of you sent the most wonderful messages of support. They have meant more than I can ever properly express and have helped shape the mindset I’ve needed to keep fighting. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. If I could leave you with one thing, it would simply be this: if something doesn’t feel right, please get it checked out. It might just save your life.”
