Hollywood comedian Martin Short’s daughter Katherine has died by suicide, it has been reported. It’s believed Katherine died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to TMZ, the LAPD responded to Katherine’s Hollywood Hills home on Monday shortly after 6pm.
Martin adopted Katherine and her siblings Oliver and Henry with his late wife Nancy Dolman, who died in 2010 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. He and Nancy were married for 30 years.

According to People, Katherine worked in a private practice as a licensed clinic social worker. She was also involved with the mental health charity Bring Change 2 Mind.
Katherine joined Martin at several events. In May 2023, Martin brought his daughter to the afterparty for The Producers, posing with Goldie Hawn. She also accompanied her dad on the red carpet in 2011.
This is Martin’s second tragedy in recent weeks. He and his comedy partner Steve Martin paid tribute to the late Catherine O’Hara at their comedy show just hours after her death last month.
The duo were performing a date on their Best Of tour stop in Austin, Texas, when they projected an image of the Home Alone star on the big screen and paid tribute to her as “the greatest, most brilliant, kindest, sweetest angel” they had ever worked with. The pair then raised their glasses to her and clinked them together to honor the star after her death, with the audience cheering the gesture.
Catherine died on January 30 at the age of 71, passing away at her home in Los Angeles. Her cause of death was described only as a “brief illness,” although reports suggest in the past she said she had cardiac inversus, or dextrocardia with situs inversus.
She was rushed to hospital in a serious condition before her death, with dispatch personnel stating she was having trouble breathing. Catherine had been forced to miss the beginning of production for The Studio’s second season just days before her death.
She was set to begin work on the second season in mid-January but couldn’t make it due to “personal matters.” The acclaimed comedy show has already garnered multiple accolades for its debut season, including Emmy and Golden Globe nods for Catherine.
