The Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, made a rare red carpet appearance together as they prepared to take home a coveted award for their billion-dollar luxury brand, The Row
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were seen together on a red carpet for the first time in years, at a New York event where they accepted an award for their luxury brand The Row.
The twins, who first became famous on Full House, arrived to the awards ceremony on Monday (3 November) in matching black, floor-length blazers, with identical hair styles, in which it was left to drape down their backs.
They were attending the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. At the event, they were awarded the American Accessory Designer of the Year Award for their luxury clothing brand The Row, which they launched in 2006 and is a billion-dollar company.
In their acceptance speech, Mary-Kate said: “To our amazing customers who truly give us the opportunity to do what we love, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.” She also thanked their family for giving them “the love and kindness” they needed to keep working.

The two have received awards from the CFDA before. They have twice won the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, in 2012 and 2015, and were named the Accessories Designer of the Year in 2014.
This appearance together is a rare occurrence for the twins. In recent years, they have chosen to stay out of the spotlight and avoid occasions that would put them back in front of the public. As such, they often eschew red carpet events, but were last seen together at a New York Fashion Week party, hosted by W magazine at Bloomingdale’s in September.
Both sisters were child stars, having played Michelle Tanner in Full House. They were less than a year old when they first starred as Michelle. As they grew up, they appeared in many films and TV shows together, such as Winning London, When In Rome and New York Minute.
They also had a production company called Dualstar, which produced many of their TV movies. But when they reached adulthood, they quit acting and moved to fashion.
Their company, The Row, was created when they were only 20 years-old, and makes clothing, footwear, bags and accessories. It started in New York, but has expanded to have studios in Paris and London.
Their younger sister, Elizabeth, has continued to act, and is best known for playing Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
